This bowl was created on the pottery wheel with marbled and colored stoneware clay.?
Add to that the fact that it?broke clean in half inside the kiln and then was fixed with Kintsugi, a Japanese method of mending pottery to show that just because something was once broken, doesn't mean it can't be worth even more and be all the more beautiful when it is put back together. It's a message we like around these parts.
There was a slight mishap while applying the Kintsugi on the bottom of the bowl, so it is a little messy on the bottom side, thus the reduced price for the bowl (for a Kintsugi bowl like this, I would usually charge $600+), but nothing that can be seen when looking at it from the top or sides.
Always cloth-clean Kintsugi pottery with warm water and no soaps or chemicals. The epoxy used with Kintsugi is stronger than the clay itself, but you'll wanna keep the metallic shine strong on the Kintsugi lines!
